I live in Peru, and this is an example of where many people live. The worst thing is that there are very few if any trees and greenery, and the desert climate makes these areas look like the surface of the moon. There is also very little infrastructure necessary to a minimal quality of life, such as good schools for children, clean stores to shop at, decent jobs, and so on. Those who live comfortably here in Peru - and there are also many - find it easier to forget about their countrymen who do live like this, which makes it very difficult for any real change to take place. 😥

I met my peruvian wife in turkey, then moved to Peru 12 years ago. Definitely this is a slum, not where average peruvian live.

As much as I love Guinea pigs and don’t want them to die, Guinea pigs are a food fashion in Peru and I need to learn to accept it, even it’s hard to do so.

Haber la ciudad de lima sigue creciendo lamentablemente Solo un 35 %paga impuesto Estas zona es unvasiones o son terrenos comprados ilegalmente , Ojo la gente no invade oir necesidad un gran porcentaje lo hace por inversion es decir cuando el terreno este saneado venderlo o alquilarlo ,asi lo hacen un porcentaje que no solo toma uno sino varios

The hidden face that they do not show, they only show beautiful places, food, etc. which represents .05% of what is Peru Peru is not pretty at all XD the average quality of life is horrible

I had no idea this was even a thing. I’ve never ventured beyond the dam at lookout lake. I’ve explored all around Osage Hills State Park just not in this area.

Nice to discover the typical village in Peru. It's evident that they have dry weather and the roads aren't cemented. But it looks tidy, orderly and peaceful unlike here in the Philippines where there is shit everywhere, cars and motorcycles are everywhere and people doesn't have dicipline that is why there is traffic and chaos everywhere except in those exclusive areas. I envy that place.

I remember when they flooded the valley. My dad and I used to fish Hula until Copan Lake was created. I remember seeing the old roads when we were close to the old town. Thanks for posting this.

Been through there many times. There's old truck bodies in the woods around the old camp also, Probably 1930 something models.

You could probably see it latter 2023 Osage Plains Bone Dry and this lake almost 8ft low. Indicotts was almost all Bone Dry. Most of Washington Cove was Dry. Ramps shutting down at Copan Point and Washington Cove. Copan lake hit a low of 33.88% of Pool it was unreal and Hulah was absolutely awful at washashe it was completely dry. You would not need a kayak to see that.

Its not an army base.... Its ruins of old housing for the Civilkian Conservation Corps. They were formed and tasked with building the cabins and other structures around the park.
